Marian J. (Stodola) Allen, 99, of Marinette, passed away Friday, Aug. 31, 2018 at Rennes Health Care Center-West in Peshtigo.
Born Nov. 22, 1918 in Laredo, Tx., to the late Frank and Anna (Kiefer) Stodola, she was the oldest of three siblings, Robert, James, and William. She graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Marinette in 1936, attended UW extension and then worked at Marinette General Hospital as a historian.
In 1938 her Uncle Walter Bramschreiber hired her to work at his store/post office in Little Suamico. While there, she met and married Alvin (Babe) Allen on Dec. 27, 1945 in Little Suamico.
Her husband was a career Army officer and was stationed in Fort Dix, New Jersey and Stuttgart, Germany and had seven daughters along the way. After his retirement from service in 1956, they moved to Marinette where he became the City of Marinette Code Enforcement Officer. She worked part time at Sears and had three sons.
She was a member of the Altar Society at Our Lady of Lourdes and Holy Family churches, was honored as Mother of the Year in the 70s in Marinette and was dedicated to her family and faith. Her greatest joy was attending family birthdays, holidays and traveling together, but especially when dessert was involved.
She is survived by a brother, Bill Stodola of Marinette; six daughters, Barbara (Robert) Koller of Green Bay, Patty Allen of Portland, Or., Pamela and Cheryl Allen of Marinette, Gail Allen of Stevens Point and Marilyn Allen (Harold Linde) of Tampa, Fla.; a son, Tim (Kathy) Allen of Marinette; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; a daughter, Cindy; two sons, Tom and Terry and two brothers, Robert and Jim.
Visitation will be held at Holy Family Parish, Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Marinette on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 10 a.m. until time of the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. A lunch will follow at Holy Family Social Center. Thielen Funeral Home is assisting the family.
