Rangers/Blue Devils Advance to"Sectional Semis

Issue Date: October 25, 2018

Wausaukee Claims Regional Championship

After a fantastic regular season that saw the Wausaukee Ranger volleyball team earn a share of the M&O conference crown, the Rangers continued to enjoy success as they took down the visiting Niagara Badgers in a WIAA Regional Championship game. The win was achieved by the Rangers over four sets 19-25, 25-9, 25-18 and 25-17.

"Wausaukee faced a great Niagara team tonight that served and passed very well," said Wausaukee head coach Mandy Allman. "The Rangers were able to turn it around after dropping the first set by passing and serving well. A Regional win feels so good but we get to continue working on our goals. Congratulations to a great Niagara team on a great season."

At the net the Rangers were led by Courtney Messar who tallied 11 kills, nine digs, one block and six aces. Natalie Schroeder bagged nine kills and one assist while Kylee Smith amassed eight kills, six digs, one assist, one block and three aces. Callie Orlando got 24 assists, four digs, two kills and one ace.

Tough Crivitz Falls in Regional

The Wolverines, who were the co-champions of the M&O Conference with neighboring Wausaukee, found a stop sign on the 2018 post season trail. That stop sign being the St. Mary's Catholic team, who secured a win over the Wolverines in three sets 25-16, 25-10 and 25-20.

Though the loss may be a tough pill to swallow for the fantastic Wolverines they certainly did prove themselves during the regular season.

Chloe Gruszynski led the way with seven kills and four digs for the Wolverines while Morgan Gyger chipped in three kills and 11 digs. Saige Nelsen added three digs and 13 assists while Emalee Johnsen posted one ace, two kill and four digs.

Oconto Takes Regional Win

The Oconto Blue Devils posted a solid win over Pacelli over three set 25-19, 25-21 and 25-19 on their home court

Leading the Blue Devils to victory was Mara Allen who finished the night with 14 kills and six blocks. Cora Behnke got 17 digs and 10 kills while Aubree Bucheger got 23 digs.

Wausaukee Advances With Win Over Three lakes

The Wausaukee Rangers got their post season in gear Friday night when they took down the Three Lakes girls over four sets 23-25, 25-18, 25-13 and 25-9.

Leading the way for the Rangers in the regional match up was Kylee Smith who posted 15 kills, 12 digs, five blocks and four aces. Kaelyn Schlies also had a fantastic night as she tallied up 15 kills, eight digs, one block and one ace. Courtney Messar got 10 kills and 21 digs while Callie Orlando did her part with 35 assists, five digs and one kill. Natalie Schroeder ended the evening with six kills, one dig, five assists and two blocks.

Crivitz Posts Regional Semi Win

The Crivitz Wolverines got a taste of the WIAA postseason last Friday night when they beat Iola-Scandinavia over three sets 25-23, 25-20 and 25-14.

Emalee Johnsen really showed what she can do as she led the way with 11 kills, 13 digs and seven blocks. Sianna Guns put in a great effort as well registering 11 kills, nine digs, three blocks and two aces. Chloe Gruszynski posted seven kills, seven digs and one ace while Morgan Gyger got five kills, 12 digs, one block and three aces.
