Oconto To Consider Requests For ATV/Snowmobile Routes
Issue Date: November 1, 2018
Requests for route approval from Lena Snow Drifters and the Town of Little River are on the agenda for discussion and possible action at the Oconto County Highway Committee meeting at 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov.1 at the Highway Commissioner's office, 202 Van Dyke Street, Oconto.
Other agenda items include approval of employee comp time use, approval of an employee status form, updates on general transportation aids, road work and bridge projects, opening bids for dump bodies, hydraulics and a quad axel truck chassis, grade/step changes for the paving crew, an update on the 2019 capital projects list, and authorizing attendance at the Pavement Expo.
At its meeting on Thursday, Oct. 4 Highway Commissioner Pat Scanlan informed the committee that Governor Scott Walker proposes increasing transportation aids by 30 percent for next year.
In response to a request from Hidden Bear ATV Club the committee authorized use of a 0.35 mile stretch of County F from McCauslin Campground to Forest ServiceTrail, contingent on obtaining written approval from US Forest Service for use of their trail.
Scanlan read a safety memo that was to go out to each Highway Department employee by order of the committee, updated the committee on summer work projects, and shared an update on a letter received regarding damage caused to a garage due to flying debris from a brush cutting operation.
The committee reviewed conditional use permits for the Blazek Pit, agreed they would like Scanlan and the committee to be involved in the process of hiring Highway Department personnel, and reviewed the 2019 budgets.
