Budgets Top Agenda For Peshtigo Council Nov. 7
Issue Date: November 8, 2018
Due to the General Elections on Tuesday, Nov. 6, Peshtigo City Council will hold its regular monthly meeting a day late this month, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, rather than the usual first Tuesday of the month.
In addition to regular monthly business, the agenda includes finalizing budgets for various city departments and entities, including the Fire Department, in preparation for the budget hearing and adoption at a special Council meeting set for 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15. If the budget and tax levy are approved as proposed, the net city tax levy for 2019 will be $792,998, down slightly from the $795,502 levied for 2018.
Council also is to act on a proposal to borrow enough money to meet several of the city's capital improvement project needs and keep the city's property tax levy level for 2019. There is a one-time opportunity to maximize use of RLF funds.
The proposed total budget for city expenditures is $2,567,605, up 5.372 percent from last year.
A candidate for the Police Department's Patrolman position may be approved as recommended by the Personnel Committee.
The Personnel Committee will meet in closed session at 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov 7 to interview candidates seeking to fill a laborer/truck driver/heavy equipment operator and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator, and then again at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8 for another candidate interview followed by selection of a person to fill the position. They may or may not take action in open session.
