Mary Jo (Wangerin) Desjarlais, 74, of Stephenson, Mi., passed away Friday, Nov. 9, 2018 at Bay Area Medical Center.
Born Nov. 22, 1943 in Menominee, Mi., to the late Albert "Bluie" and Elizabeth (Chatlosh) Wangerin, she graduated from Stephenson High School and formerly owned Stephenson Floral and Greenhouse.
She also founded Tumble Weed Horse Club and was one of the first miniature horse breeders in Michigan. She served on the UP State Fair Board for many years organizing the miniature horse shows. She enjoyed puzzles, gardening and playing the piano, but mostly being with her grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Lori (Jim) Sandow of Pinson, Al. and Sarah (Tom) Scheer of Daggett, Mi.; six grandchildren; a brother, Ron (Sandie) Wangerin of Stephenson, Mi.; a sister, Debbie (Paul) Hubbard of Daggett, Mi. And special friends, Debbie Paul and Anna Nordquist.
Visitation will be held at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home in Stephenson on Saturday, Nov. 17 from 11 a.m. until time of the Memorial Service at 1 p.m., with Damian Garcia officiating.
