Thunder Suffer First Loss of the Season on UP Road Trip

The M&M Thunder entered the weekend undefeated, winning their first four games by a combined 35-2 score. That wouldn't last, but they ended on a high note.
In a tour of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, the Thunder first stopped in Sault Ste. Marie, tying Sault Ste. Marie 2-2.
The Thunder trailed 2-1 going into the third period, but they scored one in the third to tie things up. Adam Mejdoub and Justin Netemeyer each scored, while Cade Fernstrum, Wesley Knutson and Nick Kehoe had assists.
Braeden Park stopped 24 of 26 shots he faced. He posted very similar totals on Saturday in a matchup with Sault Ste. Marie in St. Ignace.
He saved 23 of 26 shots faced, but the Thunder fell 3-2.
Netemeyer and Adam Lemery each scored in the game. Jason Bowers had the team's only assist. Later on in the day, Marinette faced St. Ignace.
St. Ignace jumped on the Thunder early, scoring four in the first period. The Thunder battled, but a three-goal lead at the end of the first was too much to overcome, as they fell 5-3.
Knutson, Brandon Bruning and Jordan Carvenough scored. Netemeyer, Fernstrum, Lemery and Carvenough provided assists.
Park was put through the fire in the game, facing 42 shots. He stopped 37.
On Sunday, the Thunder saved the best for last. Knutson had a goal and three assists and the Thunder headed home with a 4-3 win.
Fernstrum scored twice and Netemeyer had one. Matthew Swenson provided an assist.
Niya Patneaude started in the net this time, knocking down 29 of 23 shots (90.6 percent).
