Marinette Menominee Make Top 20 For $500,000 Grant
Issue Date: November 29, 2018
Thanks to the efforts of a small group of Marinette and Menominee business owners working together as "Small Business Rising, Marinette and Menominee are among the top 20 contenders for a $500,000 grant from a TV show on Hulu called "The Small Business Revolution," a program that goes into small towns and revitalizes their main streets.
The group includes Keith Killen, Kim Brooks, Melissa Ebsch, Kathy Springberg, Zak Aubert, and others. Working with Melissa Ebsch, who serves as Tourism Director and handles business promotions for the City of Marinette and Marinette County, members of the group put together a nomination video for the Hulu show hosted by Amanda Brinkman and Ty Pennington.
There were 12,000 applications nationwide, and the Marinette/Menominee video made the top 20 list. They are now in a countdown to the top 10, which is to be announced on Tuesday, December 11.
The more interest shown in the promotion, the better the chances are that the Marinette/Menominee Twin Cities will make the Top Ten cut, Ebsch said. She urges anyone who wants to help to share their story online, take a picture of a business place with yourself on it, and tell what you love about the community, what you look forward to or what you enjoy, and post it with the hash tag " #mymarinettemenominee."
Also, anyone who wants to help should visit the website "https://www.deluxe.com/small-business-revolution," and/or connect with them on Facebook @smallbizrev, Instagram smallbusinessrevolution or seek them on Twitter and LinkedIn.
If the Marinette/Menominee Twin Cities make the Top Ten list producers of the show will visit in January to interview local leaders and view the area in person before determining the winner of the $500,000 makeover grant and the publicity that goes with it.
