Donald J.Dupont, 73, of Carney, Mi., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 27 at his home.
Born May 24, 1945 in Stephenson, Mi., to the late Louis and Betty (Tharp) DuPont, he served in the United States Navy and married the former Linda Bretl on May 26, 1973. He worked as a logger, diesel mechanic for Linder Implement and most recently at Superior Cedar Products.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed going to camp, hunting, fishing, a round of golf and bowling, but especially time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
He served on the Nadeau Township Fire Department as chief and was a past commander and member of the Carney Nadeau American Legion Post 47.
Survivors include his wife, Linda of Carney, Mi., three children, Jim (Molly) DuPont of Greenville, Jason (Kelli) DuPont of Carney, Mi. and Jennifer (Kevin) Allsworth of Rapid River, Mi.; 10 grandchildren; five sisters, Joyce Krueger, Beverly McClellan, Linda Robinson, Arlene DuPont and Kathy DuPont; two brothers, Robert DuPont and Mark DuPont and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Gloria and Betty Jane DuPont and Janice Santos and a brother, Louis DuPont, Jr.
Family received friends at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home in Stephenson on Friday, Dec. 1 from 4 p.m. until time of Military Rites at 7 p.m., followed by a Prayer Service. Visitation continued at St. Bruno Catholic Church on Saturday, Dec. 2 from 9 a.m. until time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Fr. Jacek Wtyklo officiated with burial in Nadeau Township Cemetery. A memorial fund was established and expressions can be directed to Carney Nadeau American Legion Post 47 in his name.
