Larry L. Grady, 71, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019.
Born April 4, 1947, to Carl and Edna Grady in Oconto, where he learned a strong work ethic on the farm in Little River. He graduated from Oconto High School in 1965 and received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration at UW-LaCrosse in 1968. He married his high school sweetheart, Babette LeTendre.
In 1971, they moved to Little Chute, where he began his career with Shopko Stores Inc that lasted until retirement in 2008. By 2002 he became Director of Distribution Systems, Administration and Control, after working at the retail chain's first automated distribution center in DePere. He made many friendships that he cherished as his "Shopko family".
A devoted, loving husband, father and grandfather, he was kind, gentle, strong and the family rock, providing many family opportunities. He loved time with his grandchildren, always offering sweets, including his "grandpa cookies." He was a history buff, enjoyed golfing, was an avid woodworker and a humble man with a sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Babette; two sons, Brandon (Evelyn) Grady and Jordan (Richelle) Grady; a daughter, Karrie Grady; a sister, Sylvia Dario; five grandchildren; two nieces and a nephew.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Rodney and a brother-in-law, Jack Dario.
Interment will be in St. John Cemetery.
Visitation was held at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Little Chute on Saturday, Jan 5 from 9 a.m. until time of the Funeral Mass Service at 11 a.m., with Fr. Ron Belitz officiating. Interment was in St. John Cemetery. Verkuilen Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home of Little Chute assisted the family with arrangements.
