THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Thunder Take Two From G.B. United
Issue Date: February 7, 2019
The M&M Thunder dominated Green United Friday night, 9-1.
Niya Patneaude saved 17 shots of the 18 she saw for the Thunder.
Wes Knutson scored twice, while Cade Fernstrum, Adam Mejdoub, Justin Netemeyer, Evan Casey, Nick Kehoe and Matt Swenson each got one.
The biggest win of the night wasn't on the ice, however. The Thunder raised over $1,000 during the game for a Negaunee Family who lost two family members and a fellow hockey player in a car crash last weekend.
Kyle and Jake Johnson were involved in a crash traveling to a hockey tournament with their uncle Will when their vehicle crashed.
Jake and Will both died. Kyle was seriously injured. Money was raised through a 50/50 raffle, donations and other items for raffle.
The Thunder faced Green Bay United again Saturday and won, though it wasn't nearly as much of a dominating performance.
Knutson scored again, as did Mejdoub and Aidan Bohaczek, as the Thunder won 3-1.
United fired 17 shots at goaltender Braeden Park, who saved 16.
