District 2 KC Free Throw Winners

The annual District 2 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Contest was held at Lena High School on Feb. 10. Darrell Kushava, Council Youth Director and Russ Glime, Council Grand Knight represented the Lena Knights Council as hosts. Chris Mosconsi, District Deputy from Gillett was in charge of the contest and presented medals to the winners.
The Free Throw contest was for boys and girls ages 9-14 and contestants were from Coleman, Lena, Marinette, Oconto and Oconto Falls Councils.
In the 9 year old division no girls entered. In the boys 9 year old division, Zack Ziemer of Coleman took 1st place.
Winning the 10 year girls bracket was Katelyn Kurek of Oconto Falls and Dominik Baxter representing the Marinette Council took first place in the boys division.
In the 11 year old girls division, Nadia Shallow of Lena took first place and Chase Belanger from Oconto Falls was the 11 year old winner for boys.
Aliyah Bruenning of Coleman was the winner in the 12 year old girls division and Even Vander Zanden representing the Lena Council placed first in the 12 year old boys division.
Winning the 13 year age girls bracket was Addison Pristelski of Marinette and Carter Hill from Oconto Falls was the 13 year old boys winner.
The 14 year old girls bracket was won by Megan Shallow representing the Lena Council and Jaxson DuCharme from the Oconto Falls Council won the 14 year old boys division.
The winners will compete at the Diocesan level of Competition on Feb. 23 at West DePere High School and winners advance to Wisconsin Rapids.
Members on hand to run the contest were: Darrell Kushava, Youth Chairman, Russ Glime, Grand Knight, Jim Goffard, Richard Gilles, Robert Dietsche, Mike Klaus, Troy Klaus, and Kenneth Wondrash. Chris Mosconi, District Deputy awarded medals to the winners. Shirley Kushava was a big help with registration and making the certificates.
