Helen M. (Verbunker) Nichols, 77, of Fence, passed away Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019 at LindenGrove Communities in New Berlin.
Born Aug. 8, 1941 in Wabeno, to the late Edward and Elizabeth (LaFountain) Verbunker, she married Dale Nichols on Aug. 29, 1959 in Cudahy and worked at AC Spark Plug in Oak Creek for 18 years.
She enjoyed playing cribbage and gambling at the casino, but especially cooking and time with family and friends. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Armstrong Creek.
She is survived by her husband, Dale Nichols, New Berlin; four sons, Richard Nichols, Fence, Benedict Nichols, Milwaukee, Dale (Karen) Nichols, Greenfield and Duane (Becky) Nichols, New Berlin; a sister, Mary Bruttig, Cudahy and a brother-in-law, Lloyd Schrieber, Wabeno.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Jim, George, Bob, Bill and Gilbert Verbunker and two sisters, Elizabeth Martin and Nancy Schrieber.
Visitation will be held at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Armstrong Creek on Friday, Feb. 15 from 9:30 a.m. until time of a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m., with Rev. Fr. John Cerkas officiating. Burial will be in Fence Cemetery in Spring. Jacobs Lundholm Funeral Home and Crematory of Florence is assisting the family with arrangements.
