Gerald "Jerry" J. Payette, 79, of Allouez, passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019.
Born Oct. 30, 1939 in Marinette, to the late John and Edna (Prudhomme) Payette, he graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Marinette and attended UW-Madison. He served in the United States Coast Guard during the Vietnam era as a Radioman until an honorable discharge in 1966. On Nov. 6, 1992, he married Judith Bouche and worked at Robinson Metal for many years, first as a machine operator and later as a dispatcher until retiring in 2005.
An avid armchair coach for the Packers, Badgers and Brewers, he wasn't afraid to voice his suggestions. He liked all sports and was in a golf league for many years. A loving family man, he was a friend to many and cherished times spent together.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; three children, Kelly (Bruce) Adams, Connie (Tom) Diring and John (Kim) Payette; two step-children, Stephanie (John) Eckendorf and Eric (Jeri) Liebergen; eight grandchildren; his in-laws, Virgil Romdenne, Ron (Mae) Bouche, Gary (Sharon) Bouche, Sandy (Randy) Guelette and Ken (Nancy) Bouche and nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings Mary (Paul) Behnke, Theresa (George) Gressel, Jean (Dick) Kircher and James (Diane) Payette and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Virginia (Pat) Moreau
Gathering of family and friends will be held at Saint Matthew Catholic Church, 130 S. Matthew Street, Allouez on Saturday, March 9 from 9:30 a.m. until time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m., with Rev. Bob Kabat officiating. A memorial fund has been established in his name. Hansen Family Funeral Home of Green Bay is assisting the family with arrangements.
