Elmer J. Magnuson, 90, of Marinette, passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019 at Bay Area Medical Center.
Born April 6, 1928 in Elmhurst, Ill., to Ralph and Esther (Johnson) Magnuson, his family moved to Marinette when he was a young boy. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and returned to Marinette where he worked at Ansul Co. for 37 years until retiring.
He met his wife, the former Carol Staven in the choir at Zion Lutheran Church in Marinette and they married at Zion on Aug. 10, 1963. In addition to singing in the choir, he was a member of the Zion Men's Bowling Team and enjoyed winter skiing, gardening and biking.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Carol; three children, William and Paul of Marinette and Karen Sellers (fiancé, Duane Clausen) of Menominee; a grandson, Bradley Sellers; Duane's children, Paige and Ty Clausen; a sister, Ione (Paul) Cedergren of Green Bay; a brother and sister-in-law, Roger (Pat) Staven of Madison; seven nephews; nine great-nephews; a great-niece and many cousins.
Friends may call at Zion Lutheran Church in Marinette on Saturday, March 9 from 10 a.m. until time of a Memorial Service at 11 a.m., with Rev. Keith Kolstad officiating. Memorial donations are appreciated to Zion Lutheran Church in his name. Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home of Marinette is assisting the family with arrangements.
