Issue Date: March 15, 2019
Jeffrey Scott Reitz, 57, passed away Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019 while on vacation in Mexico.
Born Dec. 28, 1961, to Aubert and Delores (Miller) Reitz, he attended school in Union Grove and started working at Asplundh Tree Expert Co. for 14 years, then at the City of Racine Forestry Department, where he loved his job and co-workers.
He met and married his bride, Mary Schnitzler, 22 years ago and they loved working on their small, beautiful hobby farm. He enjoyed his trips to Mexico, four-wheeling with his buddies and time with family.
He was a great Papa, would give the shirt off his back to help someone, lit up a room with his smile. He loved his mom's cookies and treats from his neighbor, Pam. He was a friend to all he knew and loved his dog.
He is survived by his mother, Delores Reitz of Amberg; his wife, Mary; a step-daughter, Maquel (Trevor) Burbach; two grandchildren; two brothers, Mark (Diane) Reitz and Shawn (Teri) Reitz; three sisters, Robin (David) Carroll, Kim Collins-Reitz and Maggie (Richard) Smith; many nieces and nephews and a cousin, Steve (Julie) Squires, who was like a brother to him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Aubert Reitz and a brother-in-law, Richard Smith.
Relatives and friends visited at Schuette Daniels Funeral Home and Crematory with family on Tuesday, Feb. 19 from 3:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 6:30 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date in Amberg Cemetery in Amberg.
