Grace Lenora (Seymour) Phillips, age 97, of Laona, passed away March 1, 2019 at Ascension Medical Group, Rhinelander.
She was born August 15, 1921 in Marinette, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Earl and Rena (Pruden) Seymour. Grace was united in marriage to Delbert Phillips on August 8, 1942 at the Harmony Methodist Church in Harmony, Wisconsin. Grace drove school bus for 17 years and worked in the kitchen at Nu-Roc Nursing Home for 3 years.
She enjoyed gardening both her vegetable and flower garden. She spent most of her life as a homemaker, cooking, sewing, crocheting, (many afghans) and taking care of her family on the farm, where she and her husband lived for many years.
Outdoor activities included fishing, camping, swimming and wild berry picking. Grace loved to attend activities held at the Laona School. She was very active in community activities and volunteering.
Later in life she became a big fan of the Wisconsin Badgers, Milwaukee Brewers, Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Bucks.
Grace was an active member of United Methodist Church in Argonne, Wisconsin and part of the United Methodist Women for many years. Family was very important to her. Grace will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Grace is survived by her four children, Paulette Novak, Argonne, Delores Bartelme, Seymour, Richard Seymour, Marinette and Timothy Phillips, Laona. Further survived by eight grandchildren, Shelly (Daryl) Gerritts, Scott (Amy) Bartelme, Rod Novak, Kim (Phil) Grelecki, Greg Novak, Steve (Leah) Novak, Kay (James) Goulette and Bart (Andie) Bartelme; seventeen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Olive Seymour of Harmony and Della Seymour of Peshtigo and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert; parents, Earl and Rena Seymour; brothers, Charles, Erwin, Robert and Earl, Jr. Seymour and two sons-in-law, Jerry Novak and Bill Bartelme.
Visitation was held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 from 10:00 " 11:30 a.m. at the Weber-Hill Funeral Home, Crandon. Funeral services followed at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Barbara Bolz officiating.
