Robert "Bobby" S. Ondik, 76 of Gillett, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2019 at his home with family present.
Born March 21, 1942, to the late Joseph Ondik Sr. and Rose (Servinak) Ondik, he attended Gillett Schools and married his high school sweetheart, Judy Krause on Sept. 12, 1964 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Suring. They raised a family of one daughter and three sons while he drove truck professionally for over 45 years and she was a stay at home mother until later in life.
An avid outdoorsman, he taught his children hunting, fishing and athletics. He enjoyed his four grandchildren and they also loved time spent with him. Family was important to him and he gave his family whatever he was able to. When his wife was ill with cancer, he was her caregiver for two years until her passing in February 2018.
He loved deer and turkey hunting and created many family traditions that will continue on into the future. A kind, compassionate and dedicated family man, he will be missed by family and friends.
He is survived by three sons, Tracy (Trisha) Ondik, Terry (Amanda) Ondik and Corey (Heather) Ondik; four grandchildren; a brother Joseph Ondik; a sister, Rose Kreischer; two sisters-in-law, Betty Ondik and Barb Kroening and many nieces; nephews; other relatives and dear friends.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Judy; a daughter, Cindy; his in-laws, Arnold and Evangeline Krause; a brother, Julius Ondik; a sister, Anne Benson; two brothers-in-law, Tony Kreischer and Maynard (Sonny) Benson and a sister-in-law, Norma Ondik.
Visitation will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, 101 W. Main St., Gillett on Saturday, March 23 from 9 a.m. until time of the funeral service at noon, with Pastor Kent Wallace officiating. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home of Suring is assisting the family with arrangements.
