Becky S. Butterfield
Issue Date: March 21, 2019
Becky S. (Wendt) Butterfield, 55, of Wallace, Mi., passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019 at home.
Born July 2, 1963 in Green Bay, to Hillis and the late Shirley (Slack)c Wendt, she was the first in her family to further her education and became a Cosmetologist and then a licensed building contractor.
She was happy to lend a hand with the many skills she had in her tool bag. She specialized in home renovations, especially in rebuilding older single family homes into multi family apartments. She converted a home into a small nursing home and ran it when her grandmother became too ill to stay at home. She was a longtime caregiver for many others also.
She enjoyed growing vegetables in her garden and greenhouse, raised chickens and pork, made pickles, jams and jellies, raised bees and made bread and then sold them from her home and at Rhinelander and Mole Lake Farmers Market. She was also a seamstress, quilt maker and always the chef and hostess for holiday meals. She was a competent mechanic and cut and hauled firewood to heat her home for years.
She loved to fish from small lakes to the great lakes, to her favorite trout streams of northern Wisconsin and the U.P. She was always radiant, a joy to be around and raised a lovely daughter as a single parent. She will be missed by her companion, Don Park.
She is survived by a daughter, Jennifer (Jason) Cohrs; two grandchildren; her boyfriend, Don Park; her father Hillis Wendt; three brothers, Edward and Michael Wendt and Larry (Tracy) Wendt and two sisters, Brenda (Greg) and Crystal Wendt.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Wendt and a brother, Kevin Wendt.
There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. Anderson Diehm Funeral Home of Stephenson is assisting the family.
