THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Naida C. Philipps
Issue Date: April 18, 2019
Naida C. (Michnick) Philipps of Wallace, Mi., passed away Saturday, April 13 with family by her side.
Born Nov. 21, 1928, to Michael and Julia Michnick, she married Eugene Philipps on Sept. 14, 1946 and they lived in Wallace, Mi. where they raised five children.
First and foremost, a homemaker and a helpmate, she had a strong sense of family and was a big part in making the family business, Wallace Building Supply, a success. She worked non-stop to make a comfortable home for her family with three meals a day, a spotless house, yard work done, kids clean and happy and she always put family before herself. She enjoyed reading, playing the piano to play the piano, had a generous and giving spirit beyond her family and volunteered in her children's classrooms and served on the PTA for many years.
She also volunteered in local cancer drives and helped many other individuals with a ride, a casserole, a shoulder to cry on and was always there for people. A wonderful role model and example to her children and grandchildren, she was ahead of her time in raising strong, independent children and advocating acceptance and love for all.
She is survived by five children, Leila Harring, Randall Philipps, Kathleen Philipps (Larry Wenger), Melissa Pichette and Peggy (Dan Koller); 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Mike (Charlyne) and a sister, Sharon Michnick.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; a brother, Tom Michnick and a sister, Olga Hanson.
Visitation will be held at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home in Stephenson, Mi. on Wednesday April 17 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 5 p.m. at Precious Blood Catholic Church, followed by a meal. Donations are appreciated to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
