Joan Elizabeth Miller, 77, of Kaukauna, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019 in Casa Grande, Az.
Born Nov. 2, 1941 in Menominee, Mi., to Albert F. Miller and MaryLouise (Mathy) Miller, she attended Marinette Catholic Central High Schoo and then married Charles Edward Miller on Aug. 13, 1960 at St. John the Baptist Church in Menominee, Mi.
After raising her family, she worked at Northwestern Mutual and later I.B.E.W., retiring in 2005.
She loved reading, traveling, wintering in Arizona, taking walks and cheering on her grandchildren at sporting events.
A longtime member of Holy Cross Church in Kaukauna, she taught religious education and later volunteered in the office. After heart surgery in 2002, she was involved with the WomenHeart Coalition, attended national conferences and conducted local meetings to help educate women with heart disease.
She is survived by her husband, Charlie; three children, Sara J. (Charlie) Cohen of Kaukauna, Peter C. (Jennifer) Miller of Neenah and Susan E. (John) Sorenson of Kimberly; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her mother, MaryLouise Miller; a sister, Anne (Scot) VandenHeuvel; her in-laws, Rose (Herman) Homan, Donna (Dennis) Farrell and Marge (Roger) Thibodeau and many nieces; nephews and friends.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Stephen A. Miller; her father, Albert F. Miller; a sister, Mary Lynn Heinritz and her in-laws, Joseph Miller and Cecelia (Balcerzak) Miller.
Visitation will be held at Holy Cross Church in Kaukauna on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. until time of a Celebration of Life at noon. Donations can be made in her name to Mayo Clinic, Department of Development, F/B/O Heart Failure Clinic, 200 First Street SW, Rochester, MN 55905.
