Bernard J. "Barney" Fatla, 97, of Goodman, passed away Friday, April 12, 2019 at the Bay at Northridge Nursing Home in Manitowoc.
Born Oct. 5, 1921 in Armstrong Creek, to Jacob and Anna (Grandys) Fatla, he married Angeline on June 24, 1944 at Joan of Arc Catholic Church and served in the United States Army.
He enjoyed woodworking, making firewood, loved to have a good time and drinking his whiskey ol'fashion sweets. Very involved with the American Legion Post #325, he served as Chaplain for 27 consecutive years and was Legionnaire of the year.
He is survived by six children, Barbara (Rich) Majewski, Bernie (Sharon) Fatla, Kasha Boucher, William (Jean) Fatla, Mike (Maureen) Fatla and Tim (Lori) Fatla; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and six siblings, Jerry (Fran), Tom (Anita), Anton, Paul (Carol), Rennette (Dennis) and Bernadette.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Angeline Fatla and nine siblings, Casey, Al, Frank, Jeanette, Gerty, Irene, Mabel, Lucille and Alice.
Visitation was held at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church in Armstrong Creek on Wednesday, April 17 from 10 a.m. until time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with Fr. Timothy Brandt presiding. Interment was in the Glenwood Cemetery in Goodman with full Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post #325. Roubal Funeral Home of Wausaukee assisted the family with arrangements.
