Jon W. Vedra, 57, of Marinette passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Rennes Health Care Center-East after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born Jan. 13, 1962, to the late Richard and Jean (Richards) Vedra in Menominee, Mi., he graduated from Marinette High School and worked at Sylvan, Airgas, and Emerson.
He enjoyed time with friends and the outdoors, but especially loved taking his boat out fishing. He will be remembered for his humility, willingness to help and his humor known by the twinkle in his eyes. He approached his illness with a quiet strength and never a complaint.
He is survived by a sister, Nicci (Joe) Taerud of New Franken and a step-brother, Jeff (Robin) Jensen, both of New Franken; three step-sisters, Judy (Samuel) LaValley of Menominee, Joan (Pete) Aubry of DePere and Jackie (Tim) Chaltry of Green Bay; two nieces; three great-nieces; a great-great-niece and good friends, Rod Nystrom, Todd Riopelle and Stan Nordskog.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Elizabeth "Betty" Vedra.
Visitation was held at Holy Family Parish, Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Taylor St. on Tuesday April 23 from 9:30 a.m. until time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Fr. Celestine Byekwaso officiated with burial in Forest Home Cemetery in Marinette. Thielen Funeral Home of Marinette assisted the family with arrangements. A memorial has been established for Unity Hospice.
