Katharina "Katie" Trinkl, 88, of Marinette passed away Saturday March 2, 2019 at the Luther Home.
Born Oct. 13, 1930 in Banat Yugoslavia, to the late Nikolaus and Katharina (Stemper) Schussler, she married Rudolf Trinkl in Augsburg, Germany on June 19, 1954 and he preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 1995.
In September of 1956, she, her husband and son migrated to the United States and lived in Marinette where she attended night school and graduated from Menominee High School.
She worked at the former Scott Paper Company and in later years she authored an autobiographical book titled Katharina's Escape to Freedom. She was a member of SS. Joseph and Edward Parish in Walsh.
She is survived by a son, Walter (significant other, Mary Benson); two grandsons; two nieces, Linda Wrench and Marianne Schussler-Yenor; a nephew, Peter Schussler and many cousins.
In addition to her husband, Rudolf she was preceded in death by a brother, Peter Schussler and a sister, Elizabeth "Elsie'.
Graveside services will be held at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Walsh on Saturday, April 27 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Jess Berdol officiating. Thielen Funeral Home of Marinette is assisting the family with arrangements.
