Laurence "Larry" E. Nichols, 76, of Marinette passed away Monday, April 22, 2019 at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay.
Born Dec. 16, 1942, to the late Lee and Bulah (Johnston) Nichols in Menominee, he graduated from Coleman High School in 1961 and continued his education at NWTC for advancement at work. On May 11, 1963, he married Charlene Remondini in Green Bay and worked at Scott Paper for 36 years, retiring in 1999.
He was a member of SS. Joseph and Edward Parish, the Men's Club, Marinette Elks Club, Porterfield Sports Men's Club, served 20 years as a Marinette County Supervisor, six years on the Marinette City Counsel and was the Porterfield Town Board Chairman.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, carpentry and built his own home, but mostly loved time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Charlene of Marinette; four daughters, Tammy (Dennis) Beland of Marinette, Tarrie (Mark) Nordgren of Cedar River, Tracie (Steve) Nichols of Waupun and Tricia (Eric) Segrest of Columbus, Tx.; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and a tot and a step-brother, Chuck (Sharon) LaCourt.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne.
Visitation will be held at Thielen Funeral Home in Marinette on Wednesday, April 24 from 3 p.m. until time of the funeral services at 5:30 p.m. Deacon Chuck Schumacher will officiate and entombment will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Marinette.
