Crivitz-Northwood's Apostolic Church National Day of Prayer is Thursday, May 2 at the John Schaffer Pavilion in Crivitz at 6:30 p.m. There will be community prayers, state and nation. This year's theme is "Love One Another".
The Continental Congress held the first National Day of Prayer in 1775 when they asked the colonies to pray for wisdom in forming the nation. In 1863 President Lincoln proclaimed a day of "humiliation, fasting, and prayer" and in 1952, a joint resolution by Congress, signed by President Truman, declared the annual National Day of Prayer. In 1988, the law was amended and signed by President Reagan, for the first Thursday of every May to be a National Day of Prayer.
