Issue Date: May 22, 2019

Editor:

You did it again Marinette and Menominee area residents. Marinette and Menominee area letter carriers along with postal employees and local volunteers teamed up to stamp out hunger in the community on Saturday, May 11.

This food drove netted an incredible 15,927 pounds of donated food. Our deepest gratitude to everyone who donated food or volunteered to make the food drive a success. Your bag of food donations will have a huge impact, benefiting food pantries at St. Vincent de Paul Marinette, NEWCAP, The Salvation Army, and St. Vincent de Paul Resurrection Conference of Menominee.

Your generosity reminds us of the fact that our community cares and is ready to give when a need presents itself.

Thank you to Jack's Fresh Market for the donation of donuts and juice, the Knights of Columbus, and the Menominee High School Baseball Team.

Contacting these agencies, St. Vincent de Paul in Marinette and Menominee, NEWCAP, or The Salvation Army to be involved in projects throughout the year such as the school supply drive, holiday gift programs for children, or holiday meals provided through the food pantries.

Sincerely,

St. Vincent de Paul Society of Marinette, NEWCAP, Salvation Army, and  St. Vincent de Paul Resurrection Conference of Menominee

Letter to Editor

My name is Neil Pokela and I just visited a fishing museum in Menominee. I can't say enough about that place and the volunteers that make it so enjoyable and informative that I never wanted to leave. I love to have this museum be known through your reporting expertise, it is a hidden treasure that needs to be exposed. Below explains more.

Bailey Park is located approx. 15 miles north of Menominee on M-35. The West Shore Fishing Museum is located within the park's boundaries and was once the site of the Charles L. Bailey commercial fishery. The park is adjacent to the Bailey Property, once the home of a commercial fishing family. Ten years ago only the house, chicken coop, and carriage shed remained, all in poor repair. Creation of the West Shore Fishing Museum began in 1997 by the Bailey Property Preservation Association. The all-volunteer Association works under the direction of Menominee County which owns the property and buildings. During the past ten years, hard work has transformed the property into a showcase museum. Restoration of the buildings and commercial fishing exhibits are 99 percent complete. Restoration of the fleet of commercial fishing boats is the Association's next project. On weekends during the summer the West Shore Fishing Museum is open to the public from 1 pm to 4 pm, Saturday and Sunday afternoons, Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Please contact for further questions or information: Noreen Johnson, President, BPPA/West Shore Fishing Museum, c/o N4486 State Highway M-35, Menominee, MI 49858.

Letter to Editor:

Weak Accusations

In a letter Friday, May 11 to the Editor of the Marinette paper, a lot of allegations were made against President Trump. It's easy to make allegations, but where are the facts? proof? to back these up? Not any were given because there are none. President Trump is not perfect but you have to consider the good he has done for our country - great economy, stock prices hitting all time highs, tax cuts, 3.2 GDP growth, eliminated the death tax, low unemployment, new trade agreements with more on the way, and much more. What did President Obama do for our country? Oh yes, he doubled our national debt and he got Obamacare passed, which was a disaster. Name one good thing! Just one.

The Democratic party is now angrier than ever because the Mueller report wasn't to their liking. After two years of investigations costing millions they're still trying to prolong it to divert our attention off the coming Barr investigations. More on this below. House judiciary committee chairman even issued a subpoena for Attorney General Barr to release the entire Mueller report which Barr can't legally do. In spite of this, all the 24 Democrats on the committee voted to hold Barr in "contempt of Congress" " not too smart. They are trying to discredit Barr and even talk impeachment. As with President Trump, no crime - no impeachment.

The Democrats are worried that with our booming economy and Trump's overall performance, if they don't destroy Trump they will lose in 2020. Front Runner Joe Biden says he will run on Obama's policies. Good luck, Joe! Also, the investigation into his dealings with Ukraine won't help him. Then there's socialist Bernie who promises free college, free health insurance and almost everything else. Nothing is free. Taxpayers would see their taxes skyrocket and still it wouldn't cover costs of trillions of dollars. Our country would become another Venezuela. The "Green New Deal", another disaster.

A lot of top FBI, Justice Department, and other government officials aren't going to be sleeping too well. Names like Comey, Loretta Lynch, Clapper, Strzok, Lisa Page, the Clintons, possibly even President Obama and around twenty others are starting to be investigated. Some could see jail time. Remember "lock her up". It may happen. You won't hear much about this on the biased liberal news channels. Watch No. 1 viewer Fox News for fair and unbiased reporting.

Ed Pristel,

Marinette
