Kurt D. Konell, Jr., known to his family as "Sonny Boy", passed away Saturday, June 1, 2019 at home on his 80th birthday, after months of battling cancer.
Born June 1, 1939 at home to Kurt Konell, Sr. and Anna Delaet Konell, he was a lifelong resident of Wagner and graduated from Wausaukee High School in 1957. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force and spent his military career in Japan. He worked as a truck driver his entire adult life, retiring in 1993.
He married Marie O'Day Mueller in October of 1973 and they enjoyed retirement years traveling, camping and taking many Canadian fishing trips. Active in his community, he was a Past-Commander of the American Legion Post 150 in Wausaukee, a former Supervisor and served as Board Chairman for the Town of Wagner. He married Pamela Belland Pansch on May 11, 2019. A compassionate, caring man, he always lent a helping hand to those in need.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela; a sister, Sharon (Roger) Marquardt of Wausaukee; two brothers, Adrian (Linda) Konell and Sidney Konell, both of Porterfield; step-children and many relatives and friends.
Among his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie; a sister, Karen and a step-son, Tom Mueller.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Stephenson United Methodist Church in Stephenson, Mi.on Saturday morning, June 8 from 9 a.m. until time of the services at 11 a.m., with Pastor Jim Matthews officiating. Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home of Marinette is assisting the family with arrangements.
