Walter Ralph Ahrens, 76, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2019 at home after a short battle with cancer.
Walter was born on December 17, 1942, to Walter and Helen (Spangenberg) Ahrens in Marinette, Wisconsin. He graduated from Menominee High School in 1961 and worked at Badger Paper Mills for 39 years until he retired. He was a lifetime member of First Trinity Lutheran Church of Marinette.
Walter is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia (Aagaard) and three (3) sons: Daniel (Emily), Richard (Lynnette) and Clark. He is also survived by four (4) grandchildren: Mitchell, Bethany, Benjamin and Abigail Ahrens. Walter is also survived by two (2) brothers: Eugene (Helen) and Jeff (Toni) Ahrens and two (2) sisters: Geraldine (Vince) Michalak and Patti (Steve) Bertram.
His parents preceded him in death. One brother, Dallas, and his wife, Marilyn, also preceded him in death.
Walter enjoyed camping with family and friends, watching all sports, and especially, following the Peshtigo Bulldogs.
Family and friends may visit at First Trinity Lutheran Church, 920 Wells Street, Marinette, from 11 AM to 1 PM, Friday, June 7 with a Church service following immediately afterwards. The service will be officiated by Pastor Christian Eisenbeis. Pallbearers are grandsons: Mitchell and Ben Ahrens and friends: Steve Degeneffe, Tom Grosse, Kevin Pillath and Roy Meier. Berth and Rosenthal Funeral Home of Peshtigo is assisting the family with arrangements.
