Homer W. Dunkes, 87, of Norway, Mi., passed away Friday, July 12, 2019 at the Oscar G Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain, Mi.
Born Oct. 6, 1931 in Loch Raven, Md., to the late Albert M. and Dora E. (Wilson) Dunkes, he grew up in Maryland and served in the United States Army. He married Mary Davis on Nov. 19, 1986 and worked in the pattern molding department at Grede Foundry.
A member of Grace United Methodist Church in Norway, Mi., he enjoyed hunting and gardening, but especially time spent with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Dunkes, Florence; two sons, Jason (Lynn) Dunkes, Niagara and Ray Davis, Iron Mountain, Mi.; two daughters, Beverly (Randy) Butterfield, Iron Mountain, Mi. and Nina Jacobs, Niagara; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, David Dunkes, Newberry, Fla.; a sister, Adelma Ashe, Townson, Md. and many members of the DeClark and Davis families.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, David and Homer "Guy".
Visitation was held at Jacobs Lundholm Funeral Home and Crematory in Florence on Tuesday, July 16 from 10:30 a.m. until time of a Memorial Service at noon. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery in Florence with graveside Military Honors accorded by Florence VFW Post #3635.
