Walter Tim Lahay, 83, of Stephenson, Mi., passed away Friday, July 19, 2019 at home, after a lengthy struggle with dementia.
Born March 14, 1936 in Escanaba, Mi., to the late Lester and Marion (Rouse) Lahay, on June 25, 1976 he married Josephine Raboin in Menominee, Mi. and she preceded him in death on Oct. 5, 2005. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and worked at Hotflame Gas Company his whole career, serving many counties.
A member of St. Bruno Catholic Church, he loved woodworking, creating woodworking pieces for neighborhood ladies and enjoyed entertaining family and friends at their home on Lake Mary.
An honest, hardworking man, he always lent a helping hand and will be remembered for his smile, facial expressions, sense of humor and quick wit.
He is survived by seven children; nieces; nephews; many grandchildren; a sister, Suzanne Gagne; four brothers, Robert (Judy), Roger (Judy), Gerald and Donald Lahay.
Visitation was held at St. Bruno Catholic Church in Nadeau on Tuesday, July 23 from 1:30 p.m. until time of Military Honors at 3:30 p.m., by the Carney and Stephenson American Legion. A Mass of Christian burial followed at 4 p.m., with Fr. Jacek Wytklo officiating, with burial in Nadeau Township Cemetery. Anderson Diehm Funeral Home of Stephenson assisted the family with arrangements. A memorial fund was established for the Alzheimer's Association.
