James J. Lasley, 88, of Peshtigo, formerly of Oconto, passed away Friday, Aug. 9, 2019 at his home.
Born June 21, 1931 in Oshkosh, to H. James and Ruby (DeHut) Lasley, he lived most of his life in the Oconto area. He married HerLLene E. Krumhus on Dec. 26, 1951 and she preceded him in death on Nov. 20, 2018. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War where he earned a purple heart. He worked most of his life as an iron worker.
He was grateful to participate in an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. in 2016. He enjoyed guns, cars, hunting and fishing and had many happy memories of their yearly winter RV trips for many years.
He is survived by three children, Dave (Debbie) Lasley, Loralee (James Kempfer) Lasley and Shawn (John Louton) Lasley; two granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Shirley Lasley; four nephews and a niece.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Herlene and a brother, Jack Lasley.
Per his request, no funeral services will be held. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Oconto. Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home of Oconto is assisting the family.
