Alberta Lucille "Lucey" (Barstow) Barker, 97, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019 at Atrium Post Acute Care in Menominee.
Born Dec. 27, 1921, to the late John and Emily (Gagnon) Barstow of Menominee, she attended Washington Elementary School in Menominee. Her family moved to Fox Michigan in the late 1920's where she attended North Fox School and later the school near Deer Creek taught by her mother Emily Barstow.
She graduated from Stephenson High School in 1939 and attended County Normal where she earned a teaching degree. She taught at Hayward Bay School for two years, worked at Signal Electric for two years and then Boreal for two years. She married Bernard Barker on Dec. 7, 1946 at her parents' home in Fox, Mi.
She enjoyed painting, seeing the Bay of Green Bay, being a homemaker, time at their camp in Cedar River and Sunday dinners with her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She belonged to the Women's Club in Menominee and an area artist group, was known to make a good red jello and her friends enjoyed playing cards with her the last few years.
Survivors include her two sons, John and Sam, both of Menominee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard and sisters and brothers, John, Alice (Clarence) Anderson, Jane Barstow, Emily (Curtis) Folstad, Nelly (George) Bonville, Loren Barstow and Mary (Bud) Smith.
Per her wishes, no services will be held. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Marinette. Anderson Kell Funeral Home of Menominee is assisting the family with arrangements.
