Michael John Schneider, 79, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019.
Born Dec. 8, 1939, to the late Benedict and Marjorie (Peterson) Schneider, he graduated from Menominee High School in 1958 and married Linda Spangenberg on Aug. 20, 1960. He then served in the National Guard and was stationed at Fort Lewis in Washington State. Upon completing his tour, he worked at L.E. Jones Company for 43 years where he was active in the union serving as union steward, then vice president and secretary for the UAW retirees.
After retirement, he worked at Holy Redeemer Parish as the maintenance/custodian for five years where he also ushered for many years.
An avid hunter and trout fisherman, he enjoyed working in his shop making wooden trinkets for his children and grandchildren, but especially loved time at camp in Banat with family while enjoying the different seasons.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Linda; four daughters, Deborah (Christopher) Millard, Michelle Boucher, Christine Schneider and Doreen (Steve) Briar; a son, Bradley (Amanda) Schneider; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and a brother, Ronald (Suzie) Schneider.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Julius and Alvera Spangenberg.
Visitation took place at Holy Redeemer Parish in Birch Creek on Monday, Oct. 7 from 9 a.m. until time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Fr. Joseph Vandannoor presided with burial in Menominee Township Cemetery. Cadieu Funeral Home of Menominee assisted the family with arrangements.
