William Hanson Sr., 91, of Stephenson, Mi., passed away Monday, Dec. 2, 2019 at Roubal Care and Rehab Center.
Born Oct. 26, 1928 in Marinette, to the late Elmer and Louise (Adams) Hanson, he served in the military during World War II. After an honorable discharge, he worked for the Menominee County Road Commission as a heavy equipment operator. On June 10, 1950, he married Clara Schainstine in Stephenson, Mi. and she preceded him in death on June 26, 2012. A member of the Stephenson Lions Club and the VFW, he greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing and being in the woods making firewood.
He is survived by a son, Robert (Floreta) Hanson of Stephenson, Mi.; a daughter-in-law, Tina Hanson of Ingalls, Mi.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a brother, Glen (Evelyn) Hanson of Stephenson, Mi. and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Clara and two sons, Ronald and William Jr.
Visitation will be held at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home in Stephenson on Monday, Dec. 9 from 4 p.m. until time of Military Honors by the American Legion at 6 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery.
