John Stanley Clark, 86, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019 at Marla Vista Assisted Living in Green Bay.
Born Dec .21, 1932 in Daggett, Mi., to the late John and Evelyn (Forssberg) Clark, he graduated from Menominee High School in 1951 and married the former Mary Elizabeth Larsen in Menominee on Aug. 8, 1953. He then earned a Bachelor's Degree from UW-Oshkosh in 1960 and a Master's Degree from Northern Michigan University in 1974. He served in the United States Army for over 44 years, retiring as a Major. He worked as a building inspector for a short time and returned to the Army, working full time with the National Guard at the Armory in Marinette.
A member of the Menominee First United Methodist Church, he was a Charter Member of the Military 20 Year Club for over 40 years and enjoyed golfing and time with family.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; two sons, Jon (Winnifred) Clark and David (Wendy) Clark; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a sister, Karen Barnes and a brother, Clayton (Carol) Clark.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Harold Olson; a daughter, Carol Clark; three sisters, Carol Clark, Joyce and June and two brothers, Roger and Leland Clark.
Visitation will take place at Menominee First United Methodist Church on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019 from noon to 2 p.m., followed by services with Rev. John Murray officiating. Burial and graveside services will be held in Stephenson Township Cemetery in Spring of 2020 with Military Honors. Cadieu Funeral Home of Menominee is assisting the family with arrangements. A memorial fund has been established in his name and expressions of sympathy and kindness can be directed to the Military 20 Year Club.
