Judith "Judy" Rose Burkel, 77, passed away at an area hospital in Green Bay.
Born June 19, 1942, to the late Mary and Jack Burgess, she graduated from Green Bay East High School and continued her education at UW Oshkosh, where she received a Bachelor degree in Elementary Education. She taught at Mountain Grade School and Suamico Elementary School until retiring in 1997.
She moved to Silver Cliff where she was a member of the Silver Cliff Fire and Rescue Auxiliary and the Athelstane Silver Cliff American Legion Auxiliary. She loved going to the casino.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Mary Burkel of Green Bay; half-brother, Mike (Eunissa) Burkel, Arizona; nieces and nephews, Deb (Dave) Burndt and Taylor Burndt, both of Oshkosh, Mark (Jackie) Burkel, Sobieski, Dana (Wes) Schubert, Pulaski and Jeffrey (Kayla) Pogrant, Ashwaubenon and great-nieces and nephews, Gaven, Nevaeh, Thomas, Douglas, Briley and Lincoln.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Henry "Hank" Burkel.
Visitation will be held Friday Dec. 6, 2019 at Roubal Funeral Home in Wausaukee from noon to 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Wausaukee.
