THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Camp Daniel First in Christmas Parade
Issue Date: December 5, 2019
Camp Daniel, constructed a one of a kind Grinch themed float for the Crivitz Christmas Parade, placing first in the competition! Molded from styrofoam was Mount Crumpit and teetering at the peak was a Grinchy sleigh with a sack of presents. The float was made complete with Max the dog, the Grinch, and Cindy Lou Who sitting in the sleigh, and "who" people dressed in costumes walking along the route.
Camp Daniel Director, Tony Piantine, said, "We love creating quality programs and events for the disability community and the Christmas parade is one of those. We want to create a float that represents Camp Daniel's dedication to the community and gives people with disabilities the opportunity to walk or ride in a parade alongside a float that is genuinely awesome."
Camp Daniel, located in Athelstane on Little Newton Lake, is rooted in its summer camping program that offers people with disabilities access to safe and fun Northwoods camping experiences, where the physical, social, and spiritual needs, that each person's disability requires, are lovingly met. Throughout the rest of the year, Camp Daniel and its staff oversee many activities that further this concept of a dependent community of people with and without disabilities.
