Irene D. (DeChant) Peterson, 81, of New London, passed away Friday, Feb. 14, 2020 at home.
Born Sept. 17, 1938 in Tinley Park, Ill., to the late Thomas and Wilhelmina (Trybul) DeChant, she shared more than 50 years of marriage with her childhood sweetheart, Elmer Peterson.
She enjoyed ceramic painting, puzzles, bingo and RV traveling with her husband, but especially long-distance phone calls with loved ones and time with family.
Survivors include five children, Cindy Peterson, Mark (Sue) Peterson, David (Elizabeth Martinez) Peterson, Dick (Sue) Peterson and Ruth (Rob) Wiegand; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and three siblings, RoseMarie Pieroni, Lynda Gauthier and Michael DeChant.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer H. Peterson; a son, Elmer H. Peterson III and four siblings, Delores DeChant, Joan Pupkiewicz, Richard DeChant and Gale DeChant.
Family and friends may call at Roubal Funeral Home in Wausaukee on Saturday, Feb. 29 from noon until time of a Memorial Service at 1 p.m., with Pastor Andrew Williams officiating. Burial will be in Amberg Cemetery in Spring.
