John R. "Jack" Marx, Sr., 95, passed away Sunday, Feb. 23, 2020, surrounded by family.
Born Oct. 16, 1924 in Menominee, Mi., to Joseph and Myrtle Marx, he was an Eagle Scout, the sixth youngest in the United States at the time and served in the United States Navy during World War II.
An avid outdoorsman, he loved spending time at camp and wants to be remembered as being in a good mood and interested in helping other people. He retired as an insurance adjustor with Auto Owners and lived at the Harbors Retirement Community.
He is survived by two sons, John R. (Cyndy) Marx, Jr. and Thomas G. (Jolene) Marx; a daughter, Marsha (Ben) Marx-Bunting; a step-daughter, Tina Anderson; a step-son, Bill Cavill (Beth Cleek); 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by both wives, Donna Jensen Marx and Lil Cavill Marx; two brothers, Douglas and Robert Marx and a step-daughter, Carol LaCombe.
Per his wishes, no funeral services will be held. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Menominee. Donations can be made to the Menominee Animal Shelter in Menominee. Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home of Marinette is assisting the family.
