Lois "Jo" Ambrosius, 85, of Athelstane, passed away Friday, Feb. 21, 2020 surrounded by family.
Born June 11, 1934, to the late Elmer and Myrtle (Van Remortel) Van Straten, she graduated from West De Pere High School, and married William "Bill" Ambrosius on Feb. 25, 1954 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in De Pere. She worked with her husband at the family business, Ambrosius Sales and Service for 38 years.
She was a faithful member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in De Pere and St. Mary Catholic Church in Crivitz. They traveled 48 states and overseas, as well as went on many camping trips.
She enjoyed Square Dancing, Packer games, fishing and hunting with her husband, a good game of Smear and Sheepshead with friends, but especially going to her grandchildren's sporting events and sharing her canning that came from their garden.
She is survived by her husband William "Bill" two children, Tim Ambrosius, Athelstane, and Barb (Steve) Nohr, De Pere; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Van Straten and a twin brother, Lowell Van Straten.
Visitation was held at Ryan Funeral Home in De Pere on Monday, Feb. 24 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Visitation continued on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in De Pere from 2 p.m. until time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 3:30 p.m., with Fr. Peter Ambting O.Praem officiating.
