Lois Marie (Christiansen) Cadieu, 89, a lifelong resident of Menominee, Mi., passed away Sunday, May 3, 2020.
Born June 22, 1930 in Menominee, Mi., to Aage and Theresa Christiansen., she graduated from Menominee High School in 1948 and attended Carroll College where she studied Elementary Education and was a star French student. Her future husband, Frank R. Cadieu proposed to her at the Carroll College Chi Omega Sorority Spring Formal in 1951 and they married on April 5, 1952 at First Presbyterian Church in Menominee. They shared 61 years of marriage until his passing in 2014.
She held many titles, including "Sunday School Teacher" at the First Presbyterian Church in Menominee, "Member" of the Menominee Study Club, "President" of the GFWC Menominee Woman's Club, "Bird watching enthusiast," "Bell collector" and "Competitive Bridge player." She will be remembered by loved ones as "wife," "daughter," "sister," "mother," "grandmother," "great-grandmother" and "friend."
She is survived by two children, Gary R. (Cheryl) Cadieu and Cheryl L. (Steve Paliewicz) Hoffman; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Kornusky and sister-in-law, Norma B. Cadieu.
In the interest of safety during the COVID-19 Pandemic, a private funeral and burial was observed at Riverside Cemetery in Menominee, Mi. Donations can be made to a local charity, volunteerism or a random act of kindness. Cadieu Funeral Home of Menominee is assisting the family with arrangements.
