Randall Schmidt Issue Date: June 10, 2020
Randall "Randy" Schmidt, age 66, of Wausaukee, and most recently of Hobart, passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2020 peacefully with his loving family by his side.
Randy was born April 6, 1954, to the late Antone "Tony" and Norma Schmidt. He graduated from Wausaukee High School in 1972 and worked at Patz Company for a number of years, later for the Marinette County Forestry Department and made a long term Career at Wisconsin Public Service Corporation in Wausaukee as a Designer where he worked for 27 years.
On June 23, 1984, he married the love of his life, Catherine "Cathy" Kerski and they resided in Wausaukee, where they built a beautiful life together. They had their daughter Sarah in 1987 who was their only child and their world.
Randy was an active community member and served on the Wausaukee Village Board for 25+ years. He and Cathy attended St. Augustine Church and loved and supported their community. You would often see them walking the streets of Wausaukee holding hands.
On June 11, 2011, Randy gained a son when his daughter married Doug Hoverson. On November 12, 2013 -12-13" Randy gained the title of Grandpa to twin girls Hannah and Hattie "H&H," one of his life's greatest and most cherished blessings. On December 31, 2013 he retired from Wisconsin Public Service and went on to enjoy his grand girls and things that he loved to do.
Randy enjoyed the simple things in life, like spending time with his family, working at his land and on his equipment, socializing, hunting, gardening, watching for deer and birds, taking a ride through town, bringing his grand girls treats and anything that involved helping and giving to others.
Randy is survived by his wife, Cathy; his daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Doug Hoverson; granddaughters, Hannah and Hattie; brothers, Jerry (Annette) Schmidt, Daryll (Janet) Schmidt and Pat (Rose) Schmidt; sisters, Gaylene (Mario) Muniz and Doreen (Tom) Bucaro; sister-in-laws, Claudia (Mark) Nienow, Monica (Guy) VandenLangenberg and Maggie Cronin; brothers-in-law, Mark (Sarah) Kerski and Chris (Beverly) Kerski; uncle, Al (Judy) Czerniewski; aunt, Judy (John) Suennen; Sarah's father-in-law, Glen Hoverson and Family and many nieces; nephews; cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Norma Schmidt, father and mother-in-law, John and Mary Kerski, sister-in-law, Fay Schmidt; brother-in-law, Sean Cronin; Sarah's mother-in-law, Cindy Hoverson and other family and friends.
There will be a visitation at Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home in Crivitz on Saturday, June 20 from 9-10:30AM and a Mass at St. Mary's Church in Crivitz at 11AM. Randy's final resting place will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Wausaukee following the Mass.
As Randy recently stated "I had a GOOD life"! and we know he wishes all of you the same and of course to "Take it easy"!
