George F. Seymour, 94, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Sunday, June 28, 2020 at Menominee Health Services.
Born June 30, 1925 in Marinette, to the late Walter and May (Malmstadt) Seymour, he served in the United States Coast Guard from Sept. 9, 1942 until an honorable discharge on March 19, 1946. He married the former Eleanor Grun on Oct. 30, 1948 in Menominee and she preceded him in death on June 7, 2016. He worked as a shipping foreman at Menominee Paper Company for 31 years.
He enjoyed reading, watching Milwaukee Brewers baseball, was an avid Green Bay Packer and Wisconsin Badger fan, was a golfer and a member of Little River Country Club. He was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandy (David) Webb of Menominee, Cindy Stites of West End, N.C. and Wendy (Rusty) Shaheen of Oregon, Oh.; a son, Gary (Tammy) Seymour of Seymour, Ind.; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor; three brothers, Charles, Fred and Vernon and a sister, Helen.
Visitation will be held at Cadieu Funeral Home on Monday, July 6 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Resurrection Catholic Church at 11 a.m., with Fr. Brian Gerber presiding. Military Honors will follow, conducted by the Military 20 Year Club. Entombment will be in Forest Home Mausoleum in Marinette. Memorials can be sent to Emergency Rescue Squad, Inc in his memory.
