Joseph R. Bauer, 93, of Peshtigo, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2020.
Born April 4, 1927, to John and Elizabeth Bauer in Chicago, Ill., the family moved to Town of Grover when he was a young boy and he graduated from Peshtigo High School in 1944. He served in the military in World War II and the Korean War in Austria and Germany. After service, he returned to the family farm and in 1964 moved to Peshtigo. He worked at Scott Paper in Marinette for 28 years until retiring in 1990.
A member of St. Mary Church in Peshtigo, where he volunteered much of his time, he performed many duties there and was loved by so many, especially the children. He had many friends that loved him very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Bauer.
Thank you to all the caregivers at the Luther Manor and Luther Home that gave so much and made him feel at home during his stay.
Visitation was held Saturday, July 11, at St. Mary Church in Peshtigo from 9 a.m. until time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., concelebrated by Fr. Jess Berdol and Fr. Tim Oudenhoven. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Peshtigo. Berth and Rosenthal Funeral Home of Peshtigo assisted the family with arrangements.
