Arlene Rose (Kasakaitas) Stankevich, 100, lifelong resident of Goodman, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2020.
Born May 21, 1919 in Des Moines, Ia. to Andrew and Rose (Savisky) Kasakaitas, the family moved to Goodman when she was nine months old. She married Victor P. Stankevich on Aug. 30, 1941 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and they lived on the Stankevich family farm in the Town of Goodman.
She worked as a beautician in Green Lake for many years and then as a Nanny in Chicago. After her marriage she was a homemaker until becoming a part-time postal worker and then Postmaster of the Goodman Post Office until retiring. She helped her son, William at his restaurant (Stony Ridge) making strawberry jam and food for the salad bar.
A past member of the Altar Society of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, she also enjoyed gardening, especially her flower garden and family get togethers with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor in 1992; a grandson, Brian in 2010; a son, Victor; a brother, William; a sister-in-law, Audrey of Madison and a sister, Stella in the flu outbreak of 1919.
Survivors include three sons, John (Olga) Stankevich, Green Bay and William (Sandy) Stankevich and James (Lynn) Stankevich, both of Goodman; a brother, Peter (Coleen) Kasakaitas and a sister-in-law, Lucille Stankevich, both of Goodman; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a great great-grandchild; nieces; nephews; cousins and many friends.
