Douglas J. "Doug" Knowles, 73, passed away Thursday, Sept. 17, 2020.
Born to Anna Leona Longwell and Cecil Knowles in Palm Beach, Fla. he served in the United States Navy from 1965 until 1969 and the United States Army from 1970 to 1971. An off-shore commercial fishing and crabbing man in Florida, he also worked as a mason and bricklayer, building beautiful homes with his crew using stone and brick work.
He moved to the Wausaukee area in 2000 where he enjoyed camping, being camp cook, fishing, dancing and raising dogs for companions. Known as the Wausaukee Bird Man, he spent many years and hours building all types of bird houses and loved spending time out in "Bird Land". He also sold his bird houses at area craft shows. He loved unconditionally and touched many lives.
He is survived by his son, Douglas Knowles, Jr. A kind, loving, grateful man, he loved the Lord and will be missed by his friends.
His parents and two step-brothers preceded him in death.
