Steve J. Firkell, 86, of Pembine, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2020 at home.
Born Sept. 9, 1933 in Milwaukee, to the late Stephen and Mary (Wirtz) Firkell, he married Diane Kressin in Milwaukee and worked as a baker in Milwaukee County for 20 years. In 1974 they moved to Pembine where he worked at Niagara Paper Mill until retiring.
He was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church and enjoyed working at the Church and also provided Pastoral Ministry at Dickinson County Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Diane; four children, Paul Firkell, Mary (Wade) DeVerney, Anthony (Michelle) Firkell and Therese (David) Jakups; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mike and his brother, Fred.
Visitation will be held at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Pembine on Friday, Oct. 2 from 10 a.m. until time of a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Pembine Cemetery. Due to Covid-19, masks and social distancing will be required at the Church. In lieu of flowers, donations to Karen's Food Pantry are appreciated.
