Northwood's Apostolic Church (NAC) of Crivitz 5th Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be held on Thursday, Nov. 26th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. They are able to hold the dinner for free again, thanks to receiving a $500 grant from the Crivitz Area Fund held at the M&M Area Community Foundation. This is the first year the Crivitz Fund has provided grants to nonprofits, schools, churches and government agencies throughout the Crivitz area.
NAC is focused on serving the community, going beyond the four walls of a building through community involvement. The support of MMACF enables us to fulfill our goal during this Thanksgiving enabling us to offer free dinners for the 5th consecutive year.
"Through this meal, we are able to serve our community. In the past, we have seen the community come together on this day of thanks. Many have even volunteered to make this meal happen. Seeing the joy on everyone's face and friendships being formed, makes all the hard work worth it. We would especially like to thank the Crivitz Area Council of MMACF made up of Bob Berndt, Ezara Gruszynski, Lynelle Caine, Rebecca Zillges, Luke Deschane, Mike Dama and Renee Oastler, for selecting our project," said Mark Crowley, NAC Pastor.
This year's dinner will have a few changes. Due to the current COVID-19 situation, the meal will be pick up only. The location has also changed to the American Legion, located at 251 N Highway 141 in Crivitz. Grant funding is made available through the charitable contributions of local donors through endowments established and managed by the M&M Area Community Foundation. The Foundation works with families, individuals, attorneys and estate and financial planners to design gift plans that ensure donors receive the most benefit from their charitable contributions. By establishing an endowed fund with the Community Foundations donors are able to support local nonprofits or provide scholarships.
In order to continue providing support to local organizations additional donations to the Crivitz Area Fund are required. Individuals and businesses interested in contributing to the fund may contact a Council member, or call Community Foundation Executive Director, Paula Gruszynski at 906-864-3599 for more information.
