
William D. JohnstonIssue Date: November 5, 2020 William "Bill" D. Johnston, 93, of Marinette, passed away Sunday, Nov. 1, 2020 at Aurora Medical Center, Bay Area.
Born May 26, 1927, to the late Charles and Lydia (Race-Olson) Johnston in L'Anse, Mi., he served in the United States Army during World War II. On June 26, 1948, he married Patricia Lysakowski at St. Anne's Church and she preceded him in death on May 26, 2018. He worked at Menominee Paper for 20 years and founded Bill Johnston Trucking in 1965 that he operated until retiring in 1990.
He was a member of Holy Family Parish and former member of the Knights of Columbus and the Papermakers Union. He enjoyed boating, cruises, working on his heavy equipment, camping and cutting grass.
Survivors include his children, Donna (Ernest) Pintarelli of Wausaukee, Sandy (Chris) Beyler of Porterfield, Bill (S.F. Sheila Hammak) Johnston of Monroe, Va., Cathy (Jeff) Kapla of Ann Arbor, Mi. and Joseph A. (Connie) Johnston and Patti (Phil Johnson) Johnston, both of Marinette; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Everette (Beverly) Johnston; a sister, Elsie (Gordy) Frealick and many nieces; nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents and wife, Patricia, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Susan; a grandson, Kenneth Flood Jr; a great-grandson, Benjamin Hawes; five brothers, Henry, Charley, Jim, Edward and an infant and a sister, Hazel.
Visitation will be held at Thielen Funeral Home of Marinette on Friday, Nov. 6 from noon until time of Military Honors at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Glenwood Memorial Gardens. Masks Are Required!
