Richard (Dick) J. Callies, passed away Thursday, Nov. 19, 2020 at home with family at his side.
Born June 20, 1933 in Milwaukee, to Walter and Margaret (Renner) Callies, he was a master plumber and owned his own business Richard Callies Piping Company in Menominee, Mi. for over 25 years and provided expertise locally and worked additionally throughout Michigan, Wisconsin and North Dakota. On July 19, 1958, he married Ellen Palmateer and they had four children, Katherine (Kathy Callies) Hamelback, Richard (Rick), Elizabeth (Becky) and Caroline (Carrie Callies) Logan.
He served in the United States Army as a Field Radio Repairman, 54th Signal Company from May 15, 1953 to May 14, 1955. Known for his quick wit, sense of humor and infectious and engaging smile, he was a hard dedicated worker and he loved to sing. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Menominee.
He is survived by his wife Ellen; four children, Kathy, Rick, Becky and Carrie; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Jack; two sisters, Joanne (Jones) and Mary (Sievers) and many cousins; nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Walter (Chip); a sister, Margaret (Margie) and a great-grandson, James Kist.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date with burial at Riverside Cemetery in Menominee sometime in 2021. Anderson Kell Funeral Home of Menominee is assisting the family.
